Rolando Gutierrez Ecologist

Rolando Gutierrez

My passion for conservation began in rural Colombia and led me to pursue a degree in Ecology, a Master’s in Tropical Forest and Biodiversity Conservation in Costa Rica, and currently a second Master’s in Earth and Atmospheric Science at The City College of New York. With field and research experience across Latin America and the United States, I focus on science-based conservation and biodiversity assessment. My current work examines the environmental drivers of shorebird reproductive success in urban-coastal systems such as the Rockaway Peninsula in New York City, using statistical and machine learning approaches to identify key habitat factors that inform effective conservation and climate-resilient management strategies.
